Health & Nutrition Coordinator Organization - Concern Worldwide Posted 20 Aug 2026 Closing date 27 Aug 2026 Job Title: Health & Nutrition Coordinator Reports to: Programme Director Terms: 12-month role with unaccompanied terms based in El Geneina, capital of West Darfur State, with travel to field locations in Darfurs and Kordofans. Salary: GB6 €46,821 - €52,024 Requirements: The position is based in El Geneina, West Darfur, with regular travel to Concern field locations in Darfur and Kordofan. Travel will take place in complex and potentially insecure operating environments and will be subject to security and access conditions. The post-holder may also be required to travel outside Sudan for relevant training, coordination or other work-related purposes. Role Purpose: The Health & Nutrition Coordinator will provide technical leadership and quality oversight for Concern Sudan's health, nutrition and WASH-in-health programming, ensuring high-quality, evidence-based and contextually appropriate interventions in line with Concern's strategic priorities, donor requirements, national policies and relevant international standards. Responsibilities: Programme Design and Strategy - Lead the development and implementation of Concern Sudan's Health and Nutrition strategy, ensuring alignment with Concern's global and country strategic priorities and responsiveness to evolving humanitarian needs. - Lead the development of high-quality Health and Nutrition proposals and concept notes, including development of realistic budgets, logframes and programme approaches, to support resource mobilisation and programme expansion. - Lead and/or oversee Health and Nutrition needs assessments in current and potential new areas of operation, ensuring that findings inform programme design, prioritisation, resource allocation and operational decision-making. - Regularly monitor the health and nutrition situation in Concern operational areas and provide timely technical advice to the Programme Director, Area Coordinators and Programme Managers on emerging needs and appropriate response options. - Contribute to emergency preparedness and response, including rapid assessment, programme adaptation and scale-up of Health and Nutrition interventions as required. Programme Quality and Technical Oversight - Provide technical oversight for Health, Nutrition and WASH-in-health interventions, ensuring that programme quality and coverage meet relevant national and international standards. - Ensure compliance with Sphere Standards, Core Humanitarian Standard (CHS), WHO/UNICEF guidance, relevant national Ministry of Health policies and protocols , and other applicable technical standards. - Develop and maintain appropriate technical protocols, methodologies, guidelines, tools, Activity ToRs and BoQs for common Health and Nutrition interventions. - Coordinate and systematise Health and Nutrition programming across Concern's operational locations, promoting consistency, best practice and appropriate contextual adaptation. - Develop and maintain information management tools to monitor the functionality and performance of supported health facilities and Health and Nutrition programmes. - Work closely with MEAL and HQ technical colleagues to ensure robust monitoring, evaluation, learning and programme quality mechanisms are in place. - Ensure that monitoring findings, evaluations, operational research and programme learning are systematically used to improve programme design, implementation and impact. - Follow up on recommendations arising from monitoring visits, audits, evaluations, donor reviews and internal quality assurance processes. Capacity Building and Technical Support - Identify technical capacity gaps and develop and implement capacity development plans for Concern staff and partners. - Provide mentoring, coaching and on-the-job technical support to Health and Nutrition staff and partner organisations. - Work with national and local partners to assess capacity strengthening needs and provide tailored technical support. - Support partners to establish and maintain appropriate MEAL systems aligned with project indicators and logframes. - Support government and partner counterparts to strengthen health system capacities, including service quality, referral systems, supply chain management and use of data for decision-making. - Strengthen the management of pharmaceuticals, medical supplies and nutrition commodities within Concern-supported pharmacies and health facilities. Programme Implementation and Operational Support - Provide technical guidance to Health and Nutrition Programme Managers and programme teams to ensure effective implementation of activities and achievement of programme outputs and outcomes. - Support Programme Managers in programme planning, budgeting, procurement and resource management, ensuring efficient, accountable and transparent use of programme resources. - Coordinate with Logistics and relevant programme teams on the procurement and timely delivery of pharmaceuticals, medical supplies and nutrition commodities. - Support anticipatory distribution planning and supply chain monitoring to reduce the risk of stock-outs of pharmaceuticals and nutrition supplies. - Support the recruitment and induction of technical Health and Nutrition staff. - Provide technical input into data management, routine monitoring, mid-term reviews, evaluations and donor reporting. - Support teams to design, implement and analyse nutrition surveys, coverage surveys, KAP assessments and other relevant assessments as required. - Ensure appropriate reporting tools and systems are in place and that programme and partner staff understand and use them effectively. - Review internal and donor reports and provide technical feedback to ensure accuracy, quality and consistency. - When required, act as Programme Manager and/or budget holder during periods of staff absence or vacancy to ensure continuity of programme implementation, financial management and team oversight. Representation, Coordination, Advocacy and Learning - Develop and maintain effective working relationships with State and local health authorities, UN agencies, INGOs, local responders and implementing partners. - Actively participate in Health and Nutrition Cluster coordination at national and sub-national levels, representing Concern as a credible technical partner. - Represent Concern in relevant Health and Nutrition coordination meetings, technical forums and events. - Build and maintain strategic relationships with MoH, WHO, UNICEF, UNFPA, WFP, donors and other relevant stakeholders to strengthen coordination and advance Concern's Health and Nutrition priorities. - Document and diss
